I paint because I have this inherent passion to be creative. My goal is to become more consistent with my painting. I want to be fearless and bold! When I paint, I am reminded that I can have fun! When a painting is going well, I feel this great joy and comfort. I smile. I want to bring that joy to those who experience my work.
Whether deciding on a theme for a single painting or for a series, I am inspired by the life around me. As I am painting, I select paint colors and textures that fit a mood I am trying to illustrate. The technique (or techniques!) I choose will give my paintings a different feel; do I want to be soft or grungy today? Bright and colorful or subdued and sedated?
My current work continues to grow as I give myself permission to experiment and explore the abstract world. My previous practice focused more on the real world and my life experiences. Now I am attempting to use those experiences to challenge myself with new techniques. I am challenging myself to get out of my comfort zone, out of my bubble… to be fearless.
